Hey Reader, â I don't know if you've encountered this in the business space, but some people treat being a "freelancer" as something inherently bad. You shouldn't call yourself a "freelancer," you have to call yourself a "business owner" or an "entrepreneur." Or so they say. "Freelancer" connotes being an order taker, a contractor, someone who just does a job and doesn't own their autonomy as a business owner, apparently. Obviously, I have a problem with this. đ First of all âī¸ there are good and "bad" freelancers/business owners/entrepreneurs etc. They all have flexible definitions. You can choose to be a stressed out, overworked, underpaid freelancer, or you can be a confident, high-charging, expert, health first freelancer. I choose the latter. đ Second of all âī¸ being a freelancer also means being a business owner, imo. There is no separation. If you are a freelancer, you are a business owner, and you are a service provider. But being a business owner does not necessarily mean being a freelancer. You know? And finally, sorry not sorry but "freelancer" sounds way cooler than "business owner" or "entrepreneur." đ Freelancer sounds like I'm riding out on horseback to slay a dragon, with like, a magical sword. Business owner sounds like I have to manage people. đ I know which one I want to go by. What do you think, do you prefer freelancer, business owner, or entrepreneur? Reply and let me know! đ â â Getting off my high horse for today đ, Amanda â P.S. I'm still feeling the heaviness of all these planets in retrograde -- hang in there if you are too! If you want a supportive community to help you through difficult seasons in business, health, and life in general, we're here for ya in Health First Freelancer. â
