Swipe my favorite goal setting method ✍️

Hey Reader,

I'm following up from a couple weeks ago when we did our 2025 reflection questions -- now it's time to look ahead to the new year.

FYI, the following questions are a shortened version of a process that I do every year to narrow down my goals and decide what I want to focus on in the coming year. I'll share the full process in a YouTube video coming soon!

Your 2026 journal questions:

  • Choose three areas of your life that you want to focus on in 2026. Examples: health and wellness, family, home, travel, finances, career/business, relationships, spirituality/inner growth, etc.
  • For each of these categories, free-write everything that you want to accomplish. Don't limit yourself here, this is just to get all of your ideas out onto paper. You can write this as a narrative, a list, however you want.
  • In each category, narrow down your list to the top 3 goals.
  • For some of you, this final list of 9 goals for 2026 will seem reasonable and achievable. But if it feels overwhelming, narrow down again to your #1 goal in each category. This will leave you with 3 overarching goals for the year.
  • For the rest of the month (December), see how these goals sit with you. You can always come back and revise or switch to a different goal if you feel more aligned.

If starting or growing your freelancer business is on your list for 2026, I'm planning more videos on this topic for the new year. Stay tuned!

Until then, let me know if you try this journaling method to narrow down your goals for 2026. I hope it helps!

Dream a little dream for me 🌠,

Amanda
