Hey Reader,
β
I'm super excited to say that I recently hired a new junior copywriter to help out with a few things in my business!
Mainly, blog writing (for a client) and social media (for Health First Freelancer).
And now that I have some extra help, I'm thinking about searching for new clients again.
As I've mentioned before, I'm more of a "buy and hold" kind of investor when it comes to clients.
I tend to stick with the same ones for a long time, and slowly grow a partnership that turns into a larger retainer over time. It's a win-win.
And I'm doing well right now. But I'm not gonna lie, I could stand to make a little more cash. π€
So that either means, a) a new retainer, or b) a new larger project.
At this point I wouldn't mind either, or even some combination of the two. But I'd like to bring in an extra $3k per month.
So here's what I'm going to do:
- Reach out to past clients: I'll get in touch with some past clients I haven't heard from in a while and see if they have anything I can help with. If not, I'll ask if they know anyone else who could use my help. Referrals are one of the BEST ways to get new clients, since they come with a certain amount of know/like/trust factor from day one.
- Have a look on LinkedIn: If I'm going to do any type of cold outreach, I prefer using LinkedIn. It feels more accessible than cold email, and the potential client basically has a link to your resume right there. It's easy to start a conversation and just as easy to move on if they're not interested.
- Connect with my network: Just as I'll reach out to past clients, I'll also reach out to my professional network, fellow copywriters, and even local freelancers and business connections and see if anyone has any projects they'd like to pass on. One freelancer's most hated type of work is another's favorite thing in the world! There's more than enough to go around.
As you can see, there's not a single cold email involved in that strategy. π₯³
What can I say, it's just not my vibe.
I'll keep you posted on my progress, and I hope this was helpful if you're thinking about new client acquisition. (Aren't we all?)

Amanda
