Looking behind to look ahead πŸ‘€

What's up Reader,

First thing's first, I'm SO EXCITED to share that we now have a lovely little group of humans in the Health First Freelancer community! πŸ₯³

I could not be happier with the people who joined as Founding Members -- we have such a cool range of experience levels, walks of life, and personalities. I already can tell we're going to have some super fun discussions and elevate each other to achieve our 2025 health and freelancing goals.

Speaking of goals, have you thought about what you want to achieve in 2025 yet?

I'm someone who is excited by the fresh start of a new year (it's Capricorn szn, what can I say), so I've already done my reflection on 2024 and goal setting for 2025. But I know some people feel overwhelmed or simply unmotivated at the start of the new year, and they need some breathing room from the holidays before considering the year ahead.

So now that we're about midway through January, here are a few questions to consider before thinking about your 2025 goals. (These may or may not be included in the HFF Goal Setting Workshop coming up this week. πŸ˜‰)

2024 Reflection:

  • What were 1-3 highlights of 2024?
  • What were 1-3 struggles of 2024?
  • What is one thing you're really proud of from 2024?
  • In hindsight, what is one thing you would have prioritized more?

I encourage you to set aside at least 30-40 minutes to journal through these questions. If you have a 2024 planner or journal, I recommend keeping that handy so that you can remind yourself of what you did throughout the year. (Here at the start of 2025, January 2024 feels like 3 years ago to me πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«) Personally, I'd be lost without my Passion Planner, and I'm so glad I started keeping one back in 2020.

I bet just answering these four questions will start to give you a good idea of what you want to focus on in 2025.

2025 Goal Setting

The trick is then to limit yourself to 1-3 bigger goals, and possibly 3-9 subgoals under those big goals. As opposed to like, 20 goals that are all over the place.

For example, let's say you want to start your freelance business in 2025. That's your big goal. Your subgoals might be: establish an LLC in your state, create a portfolio/website, and secure your first client. Those are still substantial goals, but they all serve the larger goal of starting your business.

Decide what 1-3 areas of your life are most important to you right now, and start brainstorming from there. And remember, you can always come back and change or redirect your goals. I personally check in with my goals at least once a quarter and reevaluate if necessary.

I hope this helps if you've been looking for motivation to think about what's next in 2025.

Personally, I think it's going to be a BIG year personally, professionally, collectively.

And as always, I'll be rooting for you. ✌️

Dream big my friends,

Amanda
