Happy Monday, Reader, Recently I've made a decision that is making me just a little uncomfortable. But in a good way. Let me explain. I decided to stop working with a client I've had for over three years. 😬 Nothing was wrong with the relationship -- this client has been a Very Good Client. I've primarily been writing articles for them about all kinds of health topics from gut health to hormones to how to make healthy lifestyle changes. And I've been paid very well for those articles. As you might guess, it's one of the main reasons I've continued to work with them for so long. But recently, I've come to a crossroads. I realized I had a decision to make. Do I want to continue putting all my eggs in the copywriting basket? Or do I want to try to build something new? (That "something new" is what we're doing here, btw. I'm talking about this community. 😊) Finally, I decided that yes, I do actually want to grow our community and serve people in a different way, not just with my writing skills. And to make space for that new venture, something else had to go. After all, I'm doing all of this in a Health First way, so simply forcing myself to work more was not an option. The added bonus is that, though my client has been great, writing these articles has become a serious drain on my energy. 😮💨 And I've been writing them for three years! It's time for something new. And it's uncomfortable. I'm giving up real actual money to do something that's not making me real actual money (yet). But sometimes you need to be a little uncomfortable to take action to get where you really want to go. In fact, I would say it's required. People don't make change in their lives (or their businesses) because their current circumstances are easy peasy. As humans, we need the push of the uncomfortable to make different choices that lead to a different outcome that lead to a better version our lives. When I think back to starting my copywriting business, I was so motivated because:
It was extremely uncomfortable! And that discomfort, along with a clear vision of where I wanted to go, was what propelled me out of those circumstances and into my ideal life. And now, here I am again, dreaming of a next-level life (and business). Except now, I've gotten too comfortable in the one I'm living. Life is good! But I know it could be even better. So I had to create that discomfort myself. I had to take time and energy and space away from where I no longer wanted to be, and put it towards where I want to go. And it's temporarily making my business finances, shall we say, a little squishy. 🥴 I can still pay the bills, but there's no wiggle room anymore. It's go time. I'm uncomfortable, and I'm ready to make a serious change. Now, what about you? Is your current life, health situation, work situation, etc. uncomfortable enough for you to make a change? If it isn't, is there a way you can create a little healthy discomfort that propels you toward the life you want? Hint: this might mean letting go of something comfortable you currently have, instead of adding something uncomfortable. Or it might mean both. But start with the letting go part. I'll leave you with this --
The YOU that got you to your current life is not the same YOU that will get you to your dream life. Or say, get you to a Health First Freelancer business. 😉 Get uncomfy with me, Amanda P.S. What is this "serious change" going to look like, you might wonder? I'm starting a YouTube channel! You can find me @healthfirstfreelancer on there, as well as on Instagram. My hope is that showing up on video will help you get to know me better, allow us all to communicate more freely in the comment section, and of course, attract new amazing people to Health First Freelancer. I'm currently scripting my first couple of videos, so stay tuned! 🤗
